Our November 1st cooking demo featured Sukiyaki, a comforting hot pot from Japan prepared Kansai-style in a donabe. This beloved dish balanced sweet and savory flavors through a simmering blend of soy sauce, sugar, sake, and tender beef—showcasing the warmth and harmony of Japanese recipes.
Our October 11th demo featured a two-part donabe experience — Ishikari Nabe, a salmon hot pot from Hokkaido simmered in miso-butter broth, followed by Ojiya, a soothing rice porridge created from its remaining broth. Together, they captured the spirit of Japanese home cooking: simple, nourishing, and beautifully complete.
This chilled corn, tofu, and somen salad is a refreshing summer dish inspired by Japanese recipes. Light yet satisfying, it features seasonal vegetables and a bright yuzu-soy dressing—perfect for warm days.
